Green with Envy

Sooo, I recently came across my new favorite way to mix up an all-black outfit... Just add verdant green earrings.  What a striking color combination, as seen on Jessica Lowndes, Minka Kelly, and Shantel VanSanten below.  (Don't feel bad, I had to look up who Shantel was too - she's on One Tree Hill, apparently)

• Baby Mania: Project Runway judge, Nina Garcia had a little boy, Alexander, yesterday. Stella McCartney gave birth to her FOURTH child last Tuesday! Stella was very hush hush about the sex and name until yesterday. Welcome to the world little girl Reiley! Love that name!
• My favorite Real Housewife of Beverly Hills, Kyle Richards has put her house on the market. Check out her digs and the price tag here! 
• Alexa Chung will be hosting a show called Thrift America for PBS. Along with Maya Singer, and editor for Style.com, she will travel the States going to thrift stores and estate sales looking for treasures! Sounds interesting! fashionista
• Whoa! Alexander McQueen's diffusion line, McQ will be revamped and priced 25% cheaper than before!
• A Cartier encrusted headboard with a Bulgari area rug?? Yes please! The December issue, Bazaar Magazine features some photos of a small scale home with lots of sparkle and bling!! Harper's Bazaar
• Looks like Anne Hathaway and James Franco will indeed be hosting the Oscars. Hmm That might be pretty cool. E online
• There are some major changes at Barneys New York. Mark Lee, the CEO since September, has just announced the appointment of Daniela Vitale as chief women's merchant and that Julie Gilhart, SVP and women's fashion director and Judy Collinson EVP and general merchandise manager of women's are leaving Barneys. I wonder where they will go! I will follow Julie Gilhart anywhere!

Have Yourself A Glam Little Christmas

Well now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it's time to strategize on Holiday decor!  For me, it's a no brainer - I'm completely entranced by the glam look (vs. folksy, traditional, etc.), and now need to gather some inspiration and start shopping.  Here are some looks I've pulled to get everyone thinking! 

How amazing is this flocked Christmas tree with the turquoise hues?  Oh wait, except for that completely rando disco ball atop the tree... sayyyy WHHHAT?  Aside from that minor detail, I am in love!  Let's also not forget those gorgeous curtains, the perfect pair of chairs, and the sweet little pup on his little dog bed.  Too perfect!

She has a King Charles Spaniel puppy named Pickles who is the cutest pup on the planet (actually tied with my morkie Henry).  This Christmas tree is in the running for Annie's Favorite Tree of the Year!

I fell in love with this next look while clicking through Rue Magazine Issue #2.   This retro-inspired Christmas is SO friggin cute!   Of course, the fact that these photos are set in Elvis's Honeymoon Hideaway in Palm Springs doesn't hurt (you HAVE to visit the link if you haven't seen it), but I'd like to think the vibe could be replicated, right?

Patch Things Up

I am so happy that it has FINALLY gotten cold in Dallas not only because it is December and I would be pretty weirded out if it was 80 on Christmas Day, but also because I can wear one of my favorite items of clothing..the sweater. Happy Thanksgiving to our dear readers!  THE NOW has been up-and-running for a little under 2 months now, and we are loving every minute of it.  On this special day, we are especially thankful to each of you for giving us the opportunity to share our passions, musings, and sometimes completely random thoughts.  Every page view and comment is a big reminder of how lucky we are for having readers who want to see what's in our "NOW."

Now we'd like to share the love and encourage each of you to check out some of our favorite blogs, created by some of our new blogging friends.  We promise you'll be as obsessed as we are!!!

Bijou and Boheme is by our friend and blogging soulmate, Christine.  E & I adore our many exchanges with Christine and wish we didn't live in a different country than her!!  She is so talented and her posts are not only UH-mazing, but she's also really witty!

Living Ladurée is by our first blogger friend, Amy!  Elizabeth came across Living Ladurée soon after we began THE NOW, and after trading a few emails, learned that Amy had recently started her blog as well.  We had so much fun writing posts about each other's blogs, and E & I are continually inspired by her =)

How does one possibly convey the amazingness that is Tilly Maison!?!?  E first came across these gorgeous Lucite trays on the Tilly Maison etsy shop and learned that the creator, Carolyn, also has the world's cutest blog!!  We have been so excited to become blogger friends with Carolyn, and we're so proud of her for recently being featured on Apartment Therapy!

There's no cutesy "way we met" story here... but E & I can't get enough of Things that Sparkle by blogger Alexandra.  Each time I look at a post on her blog, I find myself thinking that I have the exact same taste as her!  Don't miss out on her amaz blog!!!!

Proud of Our Bestie

Just wanted to give a special shout-out to our best friend Kaylen who is hosting her first Thanksgiving at her house!  Of course, this is a HUGE undertaking for any first-time Thanksgiving hostess, but on top of that, Kaylen is the proud mama of a (perfect, adorable, wonderful, smiley, who also happens to be my Godson) 2 month old!  How she's doing it, I don't know! 

In between all of the cooking craziness, I made Kaylen take a quick camera-phone snapshot of her table so that I could share it with you all.

It looks so beautiful... Elizabeth and I are sooo proud of you!  We love you (and Carter!!!)

The Non-Traditionalist Thanksgiving Table

Call me a Thanksgiving Scrooge, but I just am not one for kitch when it comes to the holidays.  And to me, the words "Thanksgiving Tablescape" conjures up mental images of turkey-shaped napkin rings, strangely shaped gourd centerpieces, and an ill-looking color palette of brown, yellow and orange.  No thanks.  (Side note: Nothing I have said applies if you have little ones... I think a certain level of "cutesy-ness" is a must for celebrating with kiddos)  But back to the adult-talk... I've scoured the Internet and have found some alternatives if your feelings are much like mine! 


Now THIS is what I'm talking about!   For this non-traditional Thanksgiving tablescape, designer Eddie Ross (so obsessed!) created a low-cost (although that's all relative) design for Lonny Magazine.  I love Ross's mixture of vintage and new pieces, and his use of modern pattern to offset the more traditional Thanksgiving "vibe." 

For option #2, I love the pale blue that's used below to create a soft, modern look, while still coming across as fall-ish and festive.  The gold pumpkins and marbleized chargers add a bit of glam, while the wishbone napkin rings bring a bit of whimsy (ugh, I hate that word) into the mix.  This look says "Happy Thanksgiving" in a sweet, subtle way.  I like!

For this modern tablescape, Dwell Studio features a simple, monochromatic backdrop, which lets the food (if you call a single dinner roll "food") be the main attraction.  I absolutely LOVE the brass flatware and the white serving bowls with gold interiors.

So, I'm not hosting Thanksgiving at my house, but if I were, here's what I hope it would look like... Oh my gosh I think this is so pretty!  The perfect mix of holiday, simplicity, and a touch of glam.  And it doesn't look like you'd break your neck putting it together.  Okay fine... maybe I'd throw a few flowers in there, but I do love it!
