Oliva Palermo in Vogue Spain

Here are some pics of Olivia in the January issue of Vogue Spain. In the issue, she announced that she will not only have her own reality show, but it will be about launching her own line. Yippppeee. Now maybe I will get to see what she is really like. I hope she isn't the Olivia I saw on The City...although she was the only entertainment.

Trend Alert: Seeing Red

Santa isn't the only one daring enough to rock an all red suit. Whether it's lipstick, candy apple or persimmon, shades of red have become the color of choice for some major designers and celebrities. The head to toe, monochromatic look started back in 2009 with Phoebe Philo's designs for Celine, but variations of the look have been seen every season since.

Catalog Living

I debated not publishing this post since it has ZERO to do with actual style; however, I couldn't resist.  Most of us design junkies get loads of magazines every month... Pottery Barn, West Elm, Crate & Barrel and the like.  The question is, have you ever taken the time to notice how ridiculously the products are staged most of the time?

Get ready for one of the funniest websites ever, Catalog Living, where they offer "A look into the exciting lives of the people who live in your catalogs."  Genius!  Most of the posts feature Gary and Elaine, a fictional couple I find myself wishing were my BFF's.

Here's a taste of the greatness...

Gary resented Elaine’s nagging tone every time she told him to put his twigs back in the dresser.

Waking up to a freshly ironed dress and a half-eaten watermelon, Gary suspected Elaine was back on Ambien.

Elaine may have had to sell my favorite side table on Ebay, but that’s not going to stop me from my afternoon Sake ritual.

Elaine!  The owl had an accident.

Another Christmas, another level of hatred Todd has for Thompson.

…and that was the last time Gary was put in charge of the Decorative Holiday Shelf.

With Elaine out of town, Gary couldn’t even enjoy his favorite dinner of brie and tree branch.

Gary, we got the desk and Medieval Torture Chair you wanted, so why do you still insist on reading on the floor?  Now, where’s that beige book I came in here for?

The only things Elaine treasures more than her prized blue and white urn collection are the framed drawings of her blue and white urn collection.

Elaine was not amused by Gary’s passive-aggressive response to her request to “garnish the cocktails.”

Gary was really looking forward to a weekend of kicking back and knocking out a few chapters of Fork.

Trust me - you'll never be able to look at a catalog the same!

New Obsession: Midi Skirts

Since ladylike looks were all over the runway, I thought I should invest in a mid length skirt or dress for spring. I actually haven't been this excited about knee length and midi skirts since high school. I used to throw on a knee length skirt (preferably a jersey number from BCBG), pair it with a quarter length sleeve shirt, some platform Mia sandals and I was good to go. This time around I am thinking a flowy mid length skirt a la The Row and Chloe will work, or an ultrafeminine tank dress like the lace and sheer ones at  Proenza Schouler, or maybe I should go super chic and get a pencil skirt with a loose fitting blouse like the looks at Celine and Prada. Oy...SO many options!

Holiday Dressing

With Christmas just 5 days away, holiday parties are in full swing... not to mention, NYE is just around the corner.  Well friends, I hope you saved the receipts for your new sequin dresses, because according to T (The New York Times Style Magazine) this year's look is bright white minimalism:

I'm on board with this for Christmas; however, for NYE, I think I'm sticking with something that sparkles!

What do you think???

Bruce Oldfield: The Frontrunner for Kate's Dress..But Who is He?

There is rumor that royal favorite, Bruce Oldfield will be designing the future princess, Kate Middleton's dress. To be honest, I had never heard of him. Evidently, Princess Diana was a big fan of the Central St. Martins graduate as is Queen Rania of Jordan who chose him to design her wedding gown. Here are some pictures to get you familiar with the man behind the soon to be infamous dress:

My Aesthetic Crisis

I don't know where this is coming from, but my style is completely changing!!! I have been developing an obsession for romantic, eccentric/bohemian interiors and I can't help myself. Maybe it was after seeing this  home of my style icon. I don't know...Who am I??? I want to sell everything in my home and start over, but I know that will not happen. I am thinking that some Venetian mirrors, candelabras, gold, taxidermy and shagreen knickknacks could help tie in my look with my new love. Gotta get to work!!
