Wedding Wednesday: Calligraphy Craze

Happy Wedding Wednesday, everyone!

Want to know a fun fact about me?  A few years ago, I had the bright idea to take an after-work calligraphy class at SMU (Southern Methodist University).  My girlfriend, Catherine, and I were going to spend our weekends earning extra money by addressing envelopes for weddings and parties... even doing it as a gift for friends who were getting married.

While it was a fabulous idea in theory, unfortunately we didn't stick with it.  Now that both of us are planning our own weddings, what we would give to be able to hand address our own invitations (Hello mega cost savings)!

I now have a completely new appreciation for the art, and I adore seeing how one can carry out a theme through their envelopes.  Here are some unique styles paired with what I think would be the perfect dress!

Dress by BHLDN... Calligraphy by Love, Jenna

Dress by Claire Pettibone... Calligraphy by Artful Celebrations

Dress by Marchesa... Calligraphy by I Dream of Letters

Dress by Alfred Sung... Calligraphy by Primele

Dress by Marchesa... Calligraphy by eDanae

Dress by Monique Lhuillier... Calligraphy by Dancing Pen

Dress by Badgley Mischka... Calligraphy by Arteriole

Hope you enjoyed the lettering goodness!

xoxo A

I am seriously obsessed with this post. I can't decide which is my favorite Modern edge or ethereal bliss? And with calligraphy. I mean not to take it too seriously... but its the first impression someone has of your wedding!!!

Love calligraphy and always thought I would get to learning it in time for my wedding. Alas, this did not happen, but at least I can still look at the work of others!

What a great post! I took a calligraphy class last year too with the same intention -- it's so tough though, right??

It's interesting to see each calligrapher's own style injected into their designs. And how different they all are!

Hi!! I really like the first one, and also the idea of pasting little stamps on the invitation is pretty cool.
