Guest Posting at Couture Zoo

Today is all  about jean cutoffs. I happen to be a major fan, but there is a very fine line between cute and trashy. For instance...

So here's Miley in an almost trashy look but is on the border of cute.. thank
goodness for that long sleeve shirt!

Oh, she pulled a switcharoo and headed straight to Skanksville!
If you want to avoid looking like this hot mess, come check out my Do's and Don'ts of Cutoff Shorts over on Couture Zoo!!!

A Missoni Wedding

I am just a weird wedding stalker as of late. Maybe I should start up Wedding Wednesdays again! Bohemian princess and Missoni accessories designer, Margherita Missoni got married in a traditional ceremony in Brunello, Italy over the weekend. The bride designed her own dress and consulted Giambattista Valli on the couture elements. The outdoor reception was held on a farm and was decorated with Moroccan floor cushions surrounding the Missoni linen and china covered tables. Oh and that's not all! There was a gypsy band, fortune teller and acrobats.

She switched to a pink version for the reception. I'm not going to lie, I LOVE this dress!
My goddess, Charlotte Dellal lounging at her Missoni covered table

All in Missoni of course!
So cute!! Love the china!

So tell me everything! What do you think?????

How do I become a socialite exactly?? Sigh...

Home Envy: Gwyneth Paltrow's New Home

Well friends, just when I thought I couldn't envy Gwyneth Paltrow's life any more, she goes and buys my dream home, "The House of Windsor".  The 8,000 sq ft home located in Brentwood was created as a concept house (fancy talk for a show house) for Veranda Magazine. It was designed and decorated by Windsor Smith and a handful of other top interior designers such as Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Kathryn  Ireland and Richard Shapiro. I'm sure the house did not come with all the fancy furniture {or horses} but judging by her other homes, I'm sure Gwyneth will be able to make it just as gorgeous!!

The design was meant to be reminiscent of  a "home in the horse country of Kentucky"
The Great Room decorated by Richard Shapiro
Family Room by Windsor Smith
Same room, different angle  Windsor Smith
Maybe Apple's room? One of the 6 bedrooms designed by Tara Shaw
Master Bathroom by Candace Barnes

The Kitchen I'm sure every blogger is familiar with by Windsor Smith
Couldn't you just die?  I wonder what Gwynnie will do in here!

See that little house out yonder? It's the stable

Man Repeller Wedding Stalker

I feel like such a stalker for hunting down any and all pictures of Leandra Medine aka The Man Repeller's wedding. I love her, so sue me! Anyway, here are the details I've gathered so far.

  • Dress: Marchesa off the rack...like I give an eff that it was OTR..I still could never afford
  • Accessories: Custom made sneakers by Superga, jewelry by Dannijo and a flower crown to top off the look
  • Extras: A silk jacket made by Rebecca Minkoff over her dress along with a leather vest by Veda designer, Lyndsey Butler
the jacket and jewelry
the bedazzled Superga's with her & husband's initials

So cute! The bridesmaids in their arm parties
The ceremony dress in all of it's glory!

  • The ceremony and "Midnight in Paris" themed reception were held at the St. Regis
  • Two very well known bridesmaids?? Danielle and Jody Snyder!

Disappearing Act

First off, I wanted to thank you all for your awesome, encouraging comments yesterday! I'm glad you get my weirdness.  Anyway, comments make my day especially when they are about me. haha jk!

In the past, I have loved styling with picture frames.  I had a table filled with frames like this:

I have a long skinny table that I styled like this ...
via Matchbook
And I loved putting frames in my bookshelves like this
Via Lonny
Well not exactly as awesome as any of the styling in these pics, but you get the idea. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with decorating with picture frames. It's not like I'm saying it's "uncool". It looks great in other people's homes, but for some reason, I have slowly been taking down every picture frame so my tables and shelves will look more like this...

frameless
via Elizabeth Sullivan Design

or maybe one or two at the most on a long skinny table

Catherine Sheppard's home via Glitter Guide
or on a bookshelf

via Lonny
How have I been brainwashed into removing all of my frames? And now I am left with the dilemma of how to display my pictures!

I could make a picture collage...
Rita Konig's mantle via Domino

or a gallery wall...

What do you think? Am I the only one having this frame phobia???

A Stab At an Outfit Post

I used to look at certain personal style bloggers and couldn't help but be jealous. Not necessarily of their outfits you see {ok who are we kidding about that}, but their courage in actually posing for pictures. It just seemed so scary. But then I did my own "shoot" in my new Asos number and I didn't know why I was so worried. I am a natural!

Oh hello...I didn't even realize the camera was on me for this.. that's how good I am
better yet, an extremely artsy pose of Annie and I..move over Rumi Neely
Asos Mirror Floral Shell, Skirt Christian Louboutin Peep Toe Pumps
In all seriousness, doing semi natural poses while showing off your clothes, handbag, shoes and the obligatory arm party all at the same time is difficult..and not normal! It's like if someone told you to get up on stage and belt out I don't know, a Mariah Carey song. Chances are that unless you are gifted in some way or completely in love with yourself, it's totally unnatural and is pretty effing embarrassing to put yourself out there like that. Obviously this wasn't a real shot at an outfit post, but I promise when I really do it...and I hope that it's soon...I will try not to look weird or take myself too seriously

B&W Stripe Decisions

So as I mentioned yesterday,  I met with Janet Rice yesterday for a little Design Therapy. I swear she is telepathic because she totally understood my style and what I was trying to go for in the house within the first 2.5 seconds. One major change we decided to make in Casa de Midgett was to take the black and white stripes from my hallway and extend them into my den. Totally scary since it would be such a bold look, but I pulled some fabulous rooms to assure me that it will look amazing. So here are the details...

we will take the stripes from my hallway....
and...
Here is some reassurance that it will look good...
